Description
PET Rod
Product Information
Product Full Identity:
Polyethylene terephthalate
PET has a high tensile and mechanical strength, which makes it a very tough material with a low coefficient of friction and high dimensional stability when compared to material alternatives. PET can be used at temperatures from -20°C to +115°C and is food compliant.
Properties
- Better resistance to acids than nylon and acetal
- High mechanical strength
- Very good creep resistance and dimensional stability
- Good resistance to radiation (Gamma & X-Ray)
- More dimensionally stable than Acetal
- Food compliant
Applications
- Mechanical Engineering
- Rollers
- Medical Industry
- Conveyor industry
- Gears
- Heavy loaded bearings
- Cams
What are the mechanical properties of PET Rod?
Is PET Rod Machinable?
Is PET Rod suitable for food contact?
Is PET Rod wear resistant?
Is PET Rod low in friction?
What are the disadvantages of PET Rod?
How does PET Rod compare to Acetal?
It’s over 30% stronger
It’s around 25% more rigid
10 degrees better short term working temperature and 30 degrees better long term
Has a 25% lower thermal expansion rate
60% less moisture absorption
Has a similar coefficient of friction
Has a much better wear resistance
Is approx 40% more expensive
How does PET Rod compare to Nylon 66?
A similar or better surface finish
It’s 8% stronger
Also 10% more rigid
Has a 10 degree advantage for the short term working temperature
With 50% lower thermal expansion rate
Massive 10x (ten times) less moisture absorption
Has a similar coefficient of friction
As good if not better wear resistance
Is approx 50% more expensive
